Cycling set to compete in Athens Twilight Criterium Saturday

The Piedmont College Cycling teams have athletes competing in the Athens Twilight Criterium on Saturday in Athens, Georgia and would love to see hometown support for the Lions. This event is not only an opportunity to catch Piedmont in action, but sure to be an exciting time with a range of events planned for the weekend.

The women’s criterium is set for a 7:15 p.m. start downtown while the men’s criterium will begin at 8:30 p.m. Awards will be handed out following the event at approximately 10:30 p.m.

The men’s pro-am criterium is an 80K race around historic downtown Athens, while the women’s pro-am criterium measures 40K. The course start-finish line is on Clayton Street at College Avenue. The AOC Twilight Criterium has been dubbed the most insane criterium in the world and this year will serve as the opening race of the 2018 USA CRITS Championship Series.

Information on the event itself can be found at athenstwilight.com with a full schedule of events as well. If you’re unable to attend but would like to follow along, live coverage can be found here.
