The City of Clarkesville has hired Trudy Crunkleton as its new Main Street Director. Clarkesville City Manager Barbara Kesler announced her hiring in a press release Tuesday.
Crunkelton currently serves as Director of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs for the City of Powder Springs in Cobb County. Before that she was Parks Director for Carrollton.
The Tiger, Georgia native earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of West Georgia. She has managed marketing, events, parks and recreation improvements, and has worked closely with civic organizations in her career. She also has experience with tourism and has worked closely with Convention and Visitors Bureaus, according to the release.
“The interview team of Barbara Kesler, Mayor Barrie Aycock, Joey Duncan, and Brenda Speed agreed unanimously that Trudy has the experience and personality to successfully lead the Clarkesville Main Street program,” the release states.
“I am excited to have Trudy on our Clarkesville team,” Kesler says.
Crunkelton is currently working out her notice in Powder Springs and is in the process of moving back to her family home place in Tiger. Her first day on the job in Clarkesville will be January 2, 2019.
She succeeds former Main Street Director Mary Beth Horton who left the job after nearly eight years to become president of the Habersham County Chamber of Commerce.
