Habersham County is selling a surplus commercial building in downtown Clarkesville. Bidding is underway now through October 25 on the property located at 1387 Washington Street.
Formerly home to the county elections office, the building most recently housed the Soque River Watershed Association office. Habersham County bought the 1,314-square-foot building in 1985. It sits on a .04-acre lot. The county is selling it “as-is” with no warranty.
“The building is no longer needed by county government, and the sale will place it back on the tax digest,” explains county Public Information Officer Rob Moore.
Bidding ends October 25
A description of the property says it includes a front entrance lobby, two office suites, a restroom, breakroom, and small conference room.
“There is adequate storage area available for office supplies,” the county’s Request for Proposal states.
Bidding ends at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25. The county will award the property to the “highest responsive and responsible bidder,” an announcement from the Habersham County Purchasing Department states.
Bid documents are available through the county’s website under Bid Opportunities or by clicking here. The county reserves the right to reject the bids if the county does not receive a fair market price.
Prospective buyers are welcome to take a walk-through tour of the building with county staff from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17.
