Country Music Singer John King Involved in Fatal Car Crash

John King headlines the last day of Haber-Jam 2015.

Country music singer John King and his band return to the stage in Habersham this weekend, just two weeks after surviving a car wreck in North Carolina that left one woman dead. King took to his Facebook page with a message to fans several days after the accident on August 16th:

“Hey guys just wanted to let everybody know.. over the weekend, while traveling to a performance, the band and I were involved in a car accident.

Me and all the guys were hospitalized but have all been released and are doing better everyday.

Our heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones involved. We will continue to pray for God’s healing of all those who were injured in this terrible accident and for the strength to get through this incredibly difficult time.”

According to the Outer Banks Voice, King was driving an SUV towing a trailer when he rear-ended a stopped car on the Wright Memorial Bridge on U.S. 158 between Kitty Hawk and Point Harbor, N.C. The Highway Patrol reported the driver of the car had stopped in the westbound travel lane of the bridge to recover a T-top that flew off just before 1:15AM. A female passenger was thrown from the car in the accident and died at the scene. The report states the driver of the car jumped or fell from the bridge into the water below and was unharmed. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution. King and three of his passengers were also hospitalized.

Investigators say neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash, and no charges have been filed.

The 26-year old King is a native of Demorest, GA. He signed with Black River Entertainment in 2013 and released his debut single, “Tonight, Tonight,” in 2014, reaching the Top 40. He’s a local fan favorite, most recently headlining the Glorious Fourth of July Celebration in his hometown of Demorest.

John King’s next scheduled performance is this coming Saturday, August 29th from 8-9PM during the Habersham County United Way’s Family Fun Fest at the Ruby C. Fulbright Aquatic Center in Clarkesville.
