Cornelia water customers asked to conserve water through Tuesday

The Cornelia Water Department says damage to the city’s water plant has been repaired, however, it’s asking customers to continue to conserve water through Tuesday evening.

The plant was damaged in Sunday night’s storm. The city sent out a public alert Monday stating, “…we need our water customers to conserve water until further notice.” That notice came around 4:33 p.m. Monday when customers were notified repairs had been made.

Cornelia’s Splash Pad at the Historic Train Depot was closed Monday due to the water shortage. No word yet on when it will reopen.
