Cornelia to celebrate Arbor Day Friday

The city of Cornelia will celebrate Arbor Day by planting Pink Dogwood Trees at the town’s water tank across from Cornelia City Park on Wyly Street

The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 17.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony. Parking will be available on Habersham Terrace behind the water tank.

This year marks the 32nd year since Cornelia became a Tree City USA community. Started in 1976, Tree City USA is one of the Arbor Day Foundation’s oldest programs. It promotes the environment and beautification through planting trees and developing green space. Today, the program includes more than 3,600 communities from all 50 states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico.
