The City of Cornelia has tentatively adopted a 2019 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 0.097 percent.
All concerned citizens are invited to the Public Hearing on this tax increase to be held at City Hall, 181 Larkin Street, Cornelia, GA on Monday, October 28th, 2019 at 6:00 PM.
Times and places of additional Public Hearings on this tax increase will be held on Thursday, October 24th, 2019, at 12 Noon and Monday, October 28th, 2019, at Noon at Cornelia City Hall.
This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 8.5 mills, an increase of 0.097 mils, Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 8.398 mills.
The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $80,000 is approximately $3.26 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $200,000 is approximately $6.51.
The millage rate is the same as 2019, but due to the Inflationary Increase for properties listed inside the City Limits of Cornelia, the Rollback Computation reflects this as an increase, states a press release from the city.
Clarkesville will set its millage rate later this month.
