The Cornelia Music Fest takes place tonight in downtown Cornelia. Ahead of the concert, police will be closing off several roads to prepare for the crowds.

Road closings will begin at 3 p.m. on May 20 and will be as follows:

  • Berry Street at Oak Street
  • Dolson Street at Chambers Avenue
  • Dolson Street at South Main Street
  • Dolson Street at Skyland Drive
  • Ellis Street at South Main Street

Handicap parking is on a first come, first serve basis and is reserved for those with handicap permits and license plates. Handicap parking will be located in two areas, including the small city parking lot across from the Downtown Cornelia Fire Station and another small parking area on Oak Street.

Event parking is anywhere in the downtown area that is not blocked off, police say.

“Please remember that businesses and churches have the right to block off their parking lots if they so choose,” says Cornelia Police Chief Jonathan Roberts.

Police are asking everyone driving through downtown Cornelia to be extra cautious due to the heavy amount of pedestrian foot traffic that’s expected.

The concerts begin at 4 p.m. and are scheduled to last until 10 p.m. Once they end, police say all traffic will be diverted away from the venue to help get event-goers safely back to their vehicles.
