Cornelia Police solve the case of the missing pig

Mrs. Daisy Mae has been reunified with her owners. She traveled from Northern Banks County to Cornelia. (Cornelia Police Department)

She made her way from Northern Banks County to Cornelia and was spotted rooting on Grand Avenue. Originally thought to be Mr. Oinkers, the pig’s name is Mrs. Daisy Mae and she has been returned to her owners.

Elizabeth Lynn Childers commented on Facebook, “She got out of her shelter at some point after we left for work this morning. She has made bail and is back home where she belongs!”

The Cornelia Police Department was notified when the pig was first recognized in the Skyland and Hillcrest area. An “APB” was issued through Facebook and the hunt began. Concerned citizens got involved.

It appears the Cornelia PD had some fun with this one. One post read, “After several attempts to ID the suspect, his hoof print was taken and run through AFIS with no positive identification made.”

Facebook fans got great entertainment from the story by posting pictures of bacon and making jokes about sausage. Public Information Officer Rob Moore commented in a post, “He should fry for his crime spree.”

Another comment, “This suspect matches the description of a Chris P. Bacon. Please check GCIC for confirmation.”
