Cornelia Police investigate break in at Vapor Shop

Cornelia Police are investigating an attempted burglary last night at a store in the Midway Station Plaza on Historic 441.

Less than a week after their grand opening celebration, Opt2Mist Vapor Shop’s new location in Cornelia is littered with broken glass. Owner Tara Alexander tells Now Habersham someone tried to break into the store sometime between 10:00 PM Thursday and 1:30 AM Friday.

“The back door handle and dead bolt was beaten off, but the person was unable gain entry,” she says. “A concrete rock was then thrown through the front window, which set off the alarm.”

The alarm apparently scared off the attacker and nothing was taken but the damage to the shop is severe. Alexander spent the night with investigators at the scene and is now asking the public for help,”If anyone came by around that time and saw anything suspicious, it would be a great help if they could let the authorities know or myself.” You can contact Cornelia Police with any information on this crime.

Opt2Mist sells devices that vaporize liquid nicotine. In February, they moved from their first location in the Apple Square Business Plaza in Cornelia to the larger store near Wal-Mart. Alexander and her husband have been in business for a little over a year.

Vaping is considered by some to be a smoking cessation technique but medical professionals say the scientific jury is still out on its effectiveness.
