The City of Cornelia will begin a new paving project in April to resurface Berry Street and Wells Street.

The two streets are cracked and uneven with some potholes. The paving project will resurface the entirety of Berry Street, but only some of Wells Street. The resurfacing will take place between Irvin and Moss street, from the “Tim Loves Tink” bridge to the intersection of Moss Street and South Main Street.

The project will cost $170,668.60, paid for by the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG), as well as SPLOST funds. Cornelia City Manager Dee Anderson says locals should not expect any road closures as a result of the paving.

“I would not expect any road closures as a result of this project,” Anderson says “Resurfacing roads is important to assure that they are safe for cars to travel on them.”
