Cornelia Gearing Up for Apple Blossom BBQ Festival

CORNELIA, GA- Spring is here and the planning of the Cornelia Apple Blossom BBQ Festival is in full swing. The City of Cornelia is preparing for visitors from all over North Georgia to attend one of the most highly anticipated events of the year.

At the festival, patrons will be able to participate in $10 tastings where you can taste everything the teams have to offer and put in a vote for the People’s Choice Awards. Beer gardens will be provided by Natalie Jane’s and Whistle Top Brew Company. Other activities include the Kid Zone, Chopped Competition and the annual rib eating contest.

Community Development Manager Jessie Owensby said, “We have over 35 teams participating in the competition this year and we are looking forward to having hundreds of people in Downtown. This event brings the community together, along with our visitors, to have a good time and eat good BBQ!”

Aside from the competitions, everyone is invited to take part and enjoy the live entertainment featuring the Foxfire Boys. There will also be several young, local artists performing on Saturday starting at 11:30 a.m.

The festival will be on Friday, April 15 from 5-9 p.m., where the People’s Choice participants will serve their “Anything Chicken” and “Brunswick Stew” categories. On Saturday, April 16, the People’s Choice “Pulled Pork” tastings will begin at 2 p.m. Other activities and competitions will be happening throughout the day.
