Cornelia churches unite for Holy Week services

A Community-wide Good Friday Service remembering the death of Jesus will be held during the lunch hour at First Baptist Church in Cornelia today at noon.  A lunch will be served after the service at 12:30 pm in the Church Fellowship Hall.

Dr. Ernest Burns, pastor of Shady Grove Baptist Church, will bring the Good Friday message.  The service will be held in the church sanctuary located at 325 Oak Street in downtown Cornelia across the street from the Cornelia City Hall.  Lunch will be by donation.

Three days later, a community wide Easter Sunrise Worship Celebration will be held at 7:00 am, on Sunday, April 16, 2017 on the lawn at the base of the Fire Tower on Chenocetah Mountain.  Following the worship celebration all are invited to a community breakfast hosted by First Presbyterian Church, Cornelia located at 469 N Main St.

Rev. Johnny Ray, Pastor of Cornelia Methodist Church, will bring the Easter Sunrise message.

In case of rain, the service will be moved to the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, Cornelia.

Parking on the mountain is limited.  Transportation will be provided by church bus from the parking lot of Cornelia Methodist Church, 275 Wyly Street beginning at 6:30 am.  The last shuttle will depart at 6:45 am.

Because there are no chairs on the mountain, guests are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

The following Cornelia churches working together throughout the year in ministry, mission and partnership sponsor these community worship experiences: Cornelia United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church, Level Grove Baptist Church, Shady Grove Baptist Church, First Baptist Church, Hillside Baptist Church, and Riverpoint Community Church.
