The Cornelia Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors held its annual awards ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 3 to honor local businesses for their contributions to Cornelia’s economy and community.

Cornelia Mayor John Borrow welcomed approximately 40 people to Connextion Church to recognize Cornelia businesses and the people who supported the city in its economic and event efforts throughout the year.

Community Development Manager Jessie Owensby gave an update on the state of the city through the 2021 Annual Report and expressed how the businesses that were in attendance helped the city achieve those goals.

“We can’t do any of the things we do without the help of our businesses giving financially, through time volunteered, and with in-kind donations. We don’t have anything if we don’t have the support of the businesses,” said Owensby.

The city also recognized businesses in Cornelia that contributed to the local economy and made an impact on the community. Downtown Development Authority Chairperson Emily Herrin also thanked the businesses for their help and presented the awards on behalf of the City.
