Cops seize $120K in illegal drugs in White County

What started out as a traffic stop ended with a major drug bust in White County.

The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) released information today about an incident that occurred in September. Two men from Tennessee were arrested.

On Friday, September 13 at approximately 2:04 a.m. White County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 129 in the area of Poppy Drive south of Cleveland.

The traffic stop resulted in the seizure of approximately 1112 grams of methamphetamine and less than one ounce of marijuana, according to ARDEO Special Agent in Charge Trent Hillsman.

The estimated street value of the drugs is $120,000.

55-year-old Warren Sanders and 33-year-old Ateela McClain were arrested. They were each charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.
