A convicted child molester from Florida who took up residence in Clayton, Georgia, is back behind bars on multiple charges of child sex abuse and trafficking.

On December 6, state and local authorities visited William Paul “PJ” Taylor in Rabun County and conducted a 4th amendment search.

“The search revealed child porn on his electronic device, at which time, investigators were able to identify the victims,” the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office says.

Authorities charged Taylor with multiple crimes including child molestation and two counts of trafficking a person for labor or sexual servitude. They also charged him with sexual battery against a child under the age of 16 and two counts each of obscene internet contact with a child, solicitation of sodomy, enticing a child for indecent purposes, and criminal solicitation

The Georgia Department of Community Supervision and GBI’s Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office assisted Rabun County authorities with the investigation. The sheriff’s office announced Taylor’s arrest on its Facebook page on January 13.

In November 2001, a court in Charlotte County, Florida, convicted Taylor of lewd or lascivious molestation of a minor. He was sentenced to five and a half years in prison and released in May 2007.

Taylor registered as a sex offender in Rabun County in October 2021, online records show. He remains in the Rabun County Detention Center without bond.
