Lt. Floyd Canup with the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office says officers returned to 1179 Wheeler Road early Tuesday morning to attempt to serve warrants on Padgett. Canup says, “He was in the house when deputies arrived and immediately surrendered without incident.”
In addition to the original Barrow County charges, Padgett also faces charges of misdemeanor obstruction and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His girlfriend, 45-year old Nancy Harness who lives at the Wheeler Road address, also is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Arrest records show Harness was arrested on April 15, the night of the original incident. When a deputy searched her home after Padgett fled he found three guns and ammunition. Harness is charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. She’s now out of jail on $5,600 bond.
Padgett remains in jail on $13,500 bond.
