The Georgia Court of Appeals has upheld a Lavonia man’s 2009 conviction for child molestation.
The court determined that there were no errors committed during the trial eight years ago of Jeremy Matthew Peppers, according to Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney George Christian.
The appellate court ruled the trial court properly allowed the jury to hear evidence of similar crimes where Peppers had previously molested three other children under age 16.
Peppers was convicted by a Stephens County jury in July 2009 and sentenced to the maximum 20 years in prison.
He’s currently serving out his sentence in Central State Prison in Macon, Georgia.
The case was investigated by the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Power House Child Advocacy Center and was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Richard Bridgeman.
