A manufacturer in North Georgia is expected to bring more jobs to Barrow County and surrounding communities through a recent expansion.

Johns Manville, a leading manufacturer of fiberglass insulation, is set to expand its operations in Barrow County with the addition of a new production line. The move will bring the company’s total workforce in the region to over 350 employees, according to Barrow County officials.

Construction on the new production line is slated to begin in early 2026, with the facility expected to be fully operational by mid-2027. The expansion will create more than 30 new jobs, including positions for operators, maintenance technicians, and warehouse employees.

Pat Graham, chairman of Barrow County’s commission, expressed his enthusiasm for the expansion, highlighting the county’s role as a prime place for business and the importance of Johns Manville’s investment in the community.

He also recognized Barrow County Manager Srikanth Yamala for his efforts in facilitating the deal, particularly during his tenure as interim economic development director.

“Barrow County is and will continue to be a great place to do business, and we are appreciative of the leadership at Johns Manville for their continued investment into our community. The company serves as a valuable business partner and, more importantly, a great neighbor to citizens,” Graham said. “I would also like to extend my gratitude to County Manager Srikanth Yamala, who worked tirelessly to complete this deal during his time as interim economic development director.”

The new production line will be added to Johns Manville’s existing plant at 713 Bankhead Highway in Winder. With this expansion, officials say the company has further solidified its commitment to Barrow County, contributing to both local job growth and the region’s economic development.

“Johns Manville is thrilled to invest in the Barrow County community, recognizing the immense potential for growth and collaboration. We value our positive relationship with local leaders, whose support and ongoing partnership are important to JM’s ability to remain an employer of choice in the area,” Greg Clarke, president of insulation systems with Johns Manville, said.
