This past year’s combined efforts of student-athletes at Commerce High School won the school its first-ever BLITZ Cup. The coveted award is handed out annually to the Northeast Georgia area high school that accumulates the most performance-based points during the school year.
Points are awarded across all sports programs for winning seasons, region titles, state playoff berths, state rankings, Player of the Year awards, and more.
This is Commerce’s first-ever win. The Tigers pulled ahead in the BLITZ Cup standings last winter and stayed at the top of the rankings for the remainder of the school year.
White County placed second, just six points shy of Commerce. Habersham Central dropped one spot to last place in the rankings after coming in eleventh last year.

The BLITZ Cup currently resides at Banks County High School, where it’s been housed since last summer. Banks has won the trophy two out of the last three years.
The trophy will be engraved with Commerce as the 2020-21 winners and given to the school to house for the next 12 months.
Now in its eleventh year, the BLITZ Cup is awarded annually by the Northeast Georgia prep sports media outlet BLITZ Sports.
