The Commerce Police Department has arrested a student for bringing a gun to the Commerce High School football game Friday evening.
The police department issued a press release on their Facebook page early Saturday morning outlining some of the details of the incident.
The press release states that on Friday evening, November 10, a student approached a Commerce Police Department School Resource Officer and other officers reporting that another student, who was attending the football game, was armed with a gun.
The officers located that student, detained and searched him. During the search, the officers located a loaded .45 caliber pistol the student had concealed. The student has been charged through the juvenile court system and remains detained.
Officers are investigating how the student came into possession of the firearm.
The Commerce Police Department is working with the Commerce City School administration to ensure that all details of the incident are understood.
The student’s name has not been released since he is currently charged as a juvenile.
