A 35-year-old Commerce man who was already in trouble with the law, found more trouble Monday when cops followed their noses. Authorities went to 51 Kensington Court in Commerce to arrest Nikki Nelson Allen on an outstanding warrant in Banks County. When they arrived they smelled a “strong odor of marijuana” which led them to obtain a search warrant.
During their search, officers say they seized approximately 5.5 pounds of marijuana, a large quantity of Butane Honey Oil (BHO) and more than $7,400 in cash.
The marijuana and BHO has a street value of $27,500, according to Mitchell Posey of the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO). ARDEO assisted Banks and Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies with the arrest.
“BHO is a super-potent type of hash that has surged on the marijuana market,” explains Posey. “The ‘dabs’ of oil can be vaporized and inhaled without the pungent smell of weed, and produce a soaring high for even longtime cannabis smokers with a strong tolerance for the drug.”
Allen was arrested and transported to the Jackson County Detention Center. He’s charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of schedule 1 BHO with intent to distribute in Jackson County. Allen also faces the earlier charge of distribution of marijuana in Banks County.
