(Helen)- Helen Arts & Heritage will present the next Coffee & Conversation event in recognition and celebration of the 50th anniversary of “Alpine” Helen”. The event is one in a series of historic reflections, all orchestrated by longtime Helen resident Paula Ash and will be held Thursday, May 16 at 10 AM in Helen City Hall.
The public is invited to attend the event for an informative conversation about the “Building Boom of 1986-2000” which will include personal reflections from local citizens who were instrumental in the change that was taking place at that time.
David Wilkins will discuss the Outlet Mall and the construction of the Innsbruck Golf Course and Community. The program also includes a reflection from Mully Ash of his role in Innsbruck and others who helped make things happen.
Sue Williams will describe her involvement in the downtown business sector and that of the Chamber of Commerce. The Mayor during that period was Jeff Ash and he will reflect on the challenges along with the economic picture of those years.
The City of Helen and Helen Arts & Heritage extend a cordial invitation to the community to attend and feel free to interact with the speakers afterward. You’ll learn the many stories of what happened during those years and how it all came together to be what Alpine Helen is today.
