Cleveland woman killed when SUV hydroplanes in heavy rain

The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate a fatal three-vehicle accident that occurred Thursday afternoon west of Cleveland that claimed the life of a Cleveland woman. Complete details have not yet been released by GSP but White County Coroner Rick Barrett has identified the woman who died as 34-year old Bailey Gabler of Cleveland.

Captain Michael Burns, Georgia State Patrol Public Information Director said Friday morning they could only release preliminary details from the accident that was reported at 5:49 PM on Georgia 115 at Ed Lewis Road, in White County.

The preliminary report filed by the trooper investigating said that a Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling west on GA 115 in heavy rain when the vehicle hydroplaned and began to rotate. The Jeep was struck in the driver’s side by a Porsche Macan. The impact caused the Porsche to travel backwards where it struck a Ram 1500 truck.

Burns said the driver of the Jeep, now identified as Gabler,  was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

According to Capt. Burns, complete details, including names of those involved, are not available and the accident remains under investigation.
