Cleveland woman jailed, accused of shooting boyfriend

Angelia Simmons (White County Sheriff's Office)

A Cleveland woman has been charged with shooting her boyfriend during a domestic dispute. Deputies arrested 48-year-old Angelia Simmons and charged her with aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act.

She’s accused of shooting her boyfriend in the arm with a pistol.

Law enforcement responded to a report of a shooting at the couple’s home on Redd Road around 7:21 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25. When they arrived they found the 46-year-old man with a gunshot. An ambulance transported him to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment. As is standard in domestic violence cases, authorities did not release his name.

White County Sheriff Rick Kelley says authorities took Simmons into custody on Wednesday. As of late Thursday, Oct. 26, she remained in the White County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
