Cleveland man injured in Tuesday accident

(Cleveland)- A Cleveland man was injured Tuesday when his vehicle ran off the road and overturned on its top, on South Main Street in Cleveland.

Cleveland Police Department investigated the accident, that was reported at 10:52 AM.

According to the police accident report, 59-year old William Charles Aspey of Cleveland was traveling south on Georgia Highway 11 ( South Main Street), just north of the intersection with Highway 75 south.

The vehicle, a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder, traveled into the left turn lane and then quickly turned back to the right. The vehicle then left the roadway striking a ditch and then overturned coming to rest on it’s roof.

According to police, the man was freed from the vehicle by Cleveland Fire Department personnel and transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Cleveland Police Chief John Foster said, they believe the axle on the vehicle broke and a wheel came off, causing the accident.
