No new information on fatal Friday night shooting in White county

White County authorities are still not releasing any new details about a fatal shooting that happened last week.

White County Sheriff’s Captain Clay Hammond told reporters Monday they could not release any new information because the investigation is still ongoing, according to WRWH News.

Gary Stephens, 27, of Cleveland was arrested and charged in the shooting death of Scott Backhaus, 41, also of Cleveland. Authorities found Backhaus’ body when they responded to a 911 call about a shooting at 633 Holiness Campground Road around 10 p.m. on August 28

Stephens was charged with aggravated assault and felony murder. He was booked into the White County jail and as of late Monday remained in jail without bond.
