Habersham County investigators have charged a Cleveland man for his alleged role in a drive-by shooting off Camp Creek Road outside Cornelia.
Authorities arrested Jacson Contreras, 18, late Thursday night in White County. He was booked early Friday at the Habersham County Detention Center in Clarkesville.
Investigators charged Contreras with two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the August 2 shooting. He’s also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Contreras faces a separate felony count of terroristic threats and acts unrelated to Wednesday’s case, according to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident was originally reported as a shooting at the Cornelia Water Treatment Plant. Cornelia Police Chief Jonathan Roberts says his department handed over the investigation to the sheriff’s office once his officers determined the incident occurred in the roadway outside the plant.
Habersham E-911 dispatched deputies to Camp Creek Road at Wilson Road. There, investigators met with the victims who told them the incident began in the parking lot at Sierra Vista Apartments. They said words were exchanged. It ended with someone firing at their vehicle as they traveled in the area of Camp Creek Road.
One of the victims is eight months pregnant. No one was injured and the victim’s vehicle was not damaged in the incident.
