The Athens-Clarke County Elections Department found a clerical error in their mailing lists on Friday, which sent two absentee ballots to approximately 725 voters.
The list of voters requesting an absentee ballot from Oct. 7, got mixed up with the later list of retrieval voters from the statewide Georgia Registered Voter Information System, leading to the crossfire of 725 people to be duplicated and sent two ballots instead of one.
Voters who received a second absentee ballot should only submit one, and destroy the extra ballot. Voters can either destroy it on their own or bring back the absentee ballot to the Elections Department at 115 E. Washington St.
