Clayton man arrested after allegedly exposing himself in public

A Clayton man was arrested late last week after allegedly exposing himself to a female in downtown Clarkesville, according to authorities.

On Thursday, Feb. 27, Clarkesville police officers were dispatched to Monroe Street just after 9 a.m. in response to a report of a male subject exposing himself to a woman.

The woman stated the suspect quickly fled the scene in a vehicle thereafter and headed toward the square.

A short time later, law enforcement located the suspect’s vehicle. The driver, now identified as Nathan James Stamey, 19, of Clayton, allegedly admitted to “changing his pants” inside the vehicle. Stamey was arrested on charges of public indecency.

Further investigation is ongoing.
