A 29-year old Clarkesville woman is in jail following a police chase in Cornelia. Heather Cornelius was arrested Monday after authorities say the Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck she was riding in struck a Habersham County Sheriff’s patrol car during a chase on Main Street and Old Cleveland Road.
“During the Chase the Dodge struck the pursuing patrol vehicle causing several thousand dollars damage to the front right side of the vehicle,” says Habersham County Sheriff’s Lt. Matthew Wurtz. The pursuit ended on Hoyt Street when the vehicle struck a building and the occupants fled on foot.
The male driver got away, according to Wurtz.
Cornelius was arrested in the parking lot of Bryson Auto Parts. She’s charged with two counts of burglary, giving false information to law enforcement, obstruction of an officer and, possession of a firearm/weapon during the commission of a felony.
