Clarkesville woman injured in wreck with semi

A Clarkesville woman was injured Wednesday when she pulled into the path of an oncoming semi on GA 365, troopers say.

Habersham County Emergency Services transported 35-year-old Amber Maner to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with minor injuries. The truck driver involved in the wreck, 23-year-old Evan Pickell of Tabor City, North Carolina, was not injured.

Troopers from Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa investigated the crash. They say Maner was driving a Honda Accord east on Antioch Church Road when she failed to yield after stopping at the stop sign.

As the Honda crossed over the highway, a northbound Freightliner Cascadia struck the car in the right rear. The Honda came to a final stop in the southbound lanes, and the semi traveled off the side of the road.

The crash temporarily shut down both sides of the highway as emergency crews tended to the injured driver and cleaned up an oil spill from the damaged truck.

Maner was ticketed for failure to yield.
