Clarkesville water service restored

Water service has been fully restored to residents and business owners in Clarkesville whose service was briefly interrupted Wednesday.

Clarkesville’s Assistant Public Services Director Jeremy Pirkle says the outage was caused by a water main break on Madison Street behind Rite Aid. He says eight homes and businesses were without water for about an hour yesterday. Affected areas include Madison, Wayne Street, Springwood Drive and Wildwood Circle

“Everything’s back to normal,” Pirkle says. “It was pretty quick. It was a pretty isolated water main break. It blew out on them even worse while they were digging but was fixed within an hour.”

Pirkle says the blowout made it difficult to tell what caused the break.
