City of Clarkesville utility workers are deep in the ground working on a broken pipe. The problem is with a line that is in front of Stoney’s at the corner of Hwy 197 and Historic 441. Workers on the scene attributed the break to the cold weather. “In the cold, lines start to contract and you get breaks and leaks,” explained one worker.
Water is still flowing on the line but is “throttled” in order to keep mud from getting into the line. Throttling allows for less disruption to those serviced by the line.
The estimated time for repair is 2 to 3 hours. Stoney’s is not expected to be impacted by the repair.
