The Clarkesville City Council will hold its next council work session and regular meeting on Monday, June 2, with several key items on the agenda that could impact local governance, taxation, and historic preservation.
The work session begins at 5 p.m., where council members will discuss additional rules for the Historic Clarkesville Cemetery. The discussion may involve updates to maintenance, usage guidelines, or preservation efforts at the site, which is considered an important part of the city’s history.
The regular council meeting follows at 6 p.m. The council will hold a public hearing to present and discuss a resolution, which proposes changes to the City Charter, specifically aimed at amending the maximum millage rate the city can levy. Following the hearing, the council will consider taking action on the proposed resolution.
Under new business, the council will discuss House Bills 581 and 92, which may carry implications for municipal funding.
They will also consider the rollback millage rate for 2025, a key step in the annual property tax process.
Both meetings will be held at Clarkesville City Hall at 123 Laurel Drive in Clarkesville.
