Three Florida teenagers face charges in connection to a violent shoplifting incident at Clarkesville Package Store over the weekend. Police identified them late Monday as Ja’Naysia Anderson, 18, and Jade Kinsley Stewart, 19, of St. Petersburg, and 17-year-old Amiah Unique Lovette of Ruskin.
Late Monday, Clarkesville police released the list of charges against the trio related to the March 29 incident. All three are charged with second-degree burglary, felony shoplifting, and robbery with force. Clarkesville police also charged Anderson and Lovette with aggravated assault. Online jail records show Stewart was a fugitive from justice and provided a false identity to authorities when they arrested her.

Assault charges

Surveillance video viewed by Now Habersham shows the suspects dressed in medical scrubs and masks attempting to leave the store as clerks tried to stop them. Two of the teens ran to a car as another swung a bag at a clerk. Police said the bag contained a stolen bottle and struck the clerk in the head. Store employees also reported to police that the driver swerved toward them as the car fled the parking.
It remains unclear which one of the suspects was driving.
Habersham County deputies stopped the trio about five miles from the store after Habersham County 911 issued a lookout for the vehicle. Dispatchers described it based on accounts from store employees.
After conducting a traffic stop and detaining the suspects, authorities impounded the vehicle. While searching it, they found several thousand dollars worth of stolen alcohol and illegal narcotics, according to police.
Multi-city, multi-state crime spree
Following their arrests, investigators said they believed the suspects were involved in similar thefts in Baldwin and Toccoa. On Monday, Chief Clouatre said Baldwin had filed charges against the suspects in connection to a shoplifting incident at the 365 Beverage Superstore on March 1.
Now, police have expanded their initial assessment, saying they believe the suspects were involved in thefts in North Georgia and across multiple states.
As of Monday, March 31, Anderson, Lovette, and Stewart remained in the Habersham County Detention Center. No bond has been set.
