The Downtown Clarkesville Master Plan in its entirety is now available for the public. The final printed document, 87 pages long, details the vision for Clarkesville, as well as short- and long-term projects and design sketches.
Printed copies of the Plan are available to view at Clarkesville City Hall or at the Mauldin House Visitor’s Center. The Plan is also available online at www.clarkesvillega.com.
The Master Plan is the culmination of a six month long collaborative effort by the City of Clarkesville, Clarkesville Main Street, and the Carl Vinson Institute of Government. This unprecedented partnership was created out of recognition that the future of our community is tied, in large part, to the vitality of our downtown.
The Master Plan presents a vision of what downtown can become. The realization of that vision will be the result of thousands of actions made by both the public and private sectors. This Plan will provide direction and guidance to city leaders, downtown stakeholders and all of the individuals and organizations whose decisions will shape the future of downtown. It provides a framework for coordinating and integrating future development in a way that will allow downtown to reach its full potential. “The Plan is not a static blueprint,” says Clarkesville City Mayor, Terry Greene. “We must constantly evaluate our progress and accomplishments and adjust our course as time passes and circumstances change.”
“Thank you to the hundreds of individuals who completed surveys, participated in focus groups, attended town hall meetings, and contributed ideas to the project,” commented Greene. “Your insights, ideas, and constructive criticism were invaluable in the preparation of this Plan. We hope that you will remain actively engaged in making downtown an exciting and vibrant place to work, learn, live, shop, and play as well as a place to heal.”
Clarkesville City Hall and the Mauldin House Visitor’s Center are open Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. For more information, contact 706-754-2220.
