A Clarkesville man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for trafficking methamphetamine.
46-year-old Christopher Hugh Kinney pleaded guilty to the charge in Habersham County Superior Court. Judge Chan Caudell sentenced him to 20 years plus 10 years probation, according to District Attorney George Christian.
On April 9, 2017, Kinney was a passenger in a car that was stopped by Habersham County Sheriff’s deputies. During the traffic stop deputies searched the vehicle and found more than 28 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, a gun, and over $4,000 in suspected drug money. He was arrested on outstanding warrants for possession of meth and violating parole.
The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) assisted in the investigation.
Mountain Judicial Circuit Assistant District Attorney Melissa Garcia served as prosecutor on the case.
