Clarkesville man, Cleveland teen charged with armed robbery and kidnapping

Suspects arrested in ongoing investigation into a home invasion in White County

(Cleveland)- Two men have been arrested in White County and charged with home invasion and armed robbery. According to a news release from the White County Sheriff’s office, on June 11th  deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery at 2075 Hwy 75 South.

The victim advised the deputies that one of the offenders forced his way into his home by pointing a gun at his head when he answered the door. A second person also entered the residence. Once inside the two tied the victim up and allegedly took money, medication and a cell phone. The offenders then fled the residence at which time the victim was able to free himself and went to a neighbors house and called 9-1-1.

White County Sheriff’s Investigator Capt. Rick Kelley advised that one of the offenders was a former acquaintance of the victim.  Kelley said  Investigators interviewed several witnesses and suspects and also conducted a search warrant at a residence on Goatneck Road. Investigators also collected and analyzed cell phone records. As a result of the investigation, 22-year-old Terry Nicholas Thomas of Clarkesville and 18-year-old Rick Chase Casper of Cleveland were arrested and charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, home invasion 1st degree, and kidnapping.

Thomas was arrested August 10th  and Casper was taken into custody this past Tuesday.

According to Kelley, during the course of this investigation, a search warrant was conducted at a residence on Goatneck Road on June 20th, and two people were taken into custody. They were identified as  Richard Franklin Casper and Kathy Louise Casper both of Cleveland.  They were charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Kelley noted that their charges are not related to the armed robbery incident.

The Sheriff’s Office Investigators worked diligently over the last few weeks confirming details,  collecting, and analyzing evidence. These arrests are a direct result of their hard work. The investigation is ongoing.
