A Clarkesville man is behind bars charged with numerous counts of child sexual abuse and authorities say more charges could be filed against him.
67-year old David Michael Dixon is charged with sodomy, aggravated sodomy, child molestation, sexual battery, aggravated child molestation and incest.
Habersham County Sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Stein says the charges stem from an incident involving a female relative. He says the alleged abuse occurred over a period of two years. “It was first reported to the Sheriff’s Office and was under investigation,” says Stein, “then it was also disclosed to staff at school.”
Dixon was arrested December 10. Since then, Sgt. Stein says other alleged victims have come forward. “There very well could be additional charges,” says Stein. “Given the gravity of everything, there was enough evidence to seek a warrant and incarcerate him now.”
Dixon is currently being held in the Habersham County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
