Thousands of dollars worth of drugs and suspected drug money seized

A Clarkesville man is behind bars charged with trafficking methamphetamine and other offenses after being arrested during a traffic stop Sunday.

Christopher Kinney was a passenger in a car that was stopped by Habersham County Sheriff’s deputies. “During the traffic stop deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered a quantity of methamphetamine, marijuana, firearm and over $4,000 in suspected drug money,” according to Ken Howard of the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO).

The estimated street value of the illegal drugs seized is $4,670.

Kinney was arrested on outstanding warrants for possession of methamphetamine and parole violation.

He faces additional charges of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during a crime.

Kinney was transported to the Habersham County Detention Center.

The investigation was conducted by ARDEO in conjunction with the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division.

The investigation continues.
