Clarkesville man arrested, charged with child molestation and ‘grooming a minor’

A Clarkesville man is in jail, facing multiple child sex abuse charges, according to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested 42-year-old Ronnie Lee Coley and charged him with four counts of child molestation, one count of aggravated child molestation, and one count of aggravated sodomy. In addition, they charged Coley with grooming a minor for a sexual offense.

The grooming charge was added to Georgia’s legal code last year. It refers to the process by which an adult builds trust with a minor to exploit or sexually abuse them.

Coley was booked at the Habersham County Detention Center on April 24. He remains in jail after a judge denied him bond.
