The State Fire Marshall’s Office has been called in to investigate the cause of a fire that broke out Wednesday in a popular Clarkesville diner. The Huddle House Restaurant on Washington Street was damaged when fire broke out around the indoor grill. Clarkesville Fire Chief Jerry Palmer says, “Upon initial investigation it appears the blaze started with a grill area malfunction then a possible malfunction of the hood vent extinguishing system.”

They quickly contained the blaze. Damage was confined to the cooking area. No one was injured. The restaurant is now closed for repairs.
