FRESH & LOCAL at the Clarkesville Farmers Market, May 28

The Clarkesville Farmers Market reopens this Saturday after taking last weekend off for the Mountain Laurel Festival. This week the market welcomes new vendor Healing Earth Farm. Hartwell resident Morris Cleveland will be selling non-GMO, free-range eggs, raw honey, as well as mixed and head lettuce. His farm is certified organic and he’s one of four growers at our local market whose farm has been deemed Certified Naturally Grown (CNG). Translation? In addition to being certified “chemical free” like all growers at the Clarkesville Farmers Market, CNG folks hold certification designating their farms do not use any synthetic herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers, or genetically modified organisms.

Also, a friend returns to the market…Meat and egg vendor K & H Farms: Cavonna and family are back for the first time this season offering the following directly from their family operated farm in Toccoa: farm fresh pastured USDA whole chickens and pastured eggs; pastured pork sausage, (pastured and forest raised, non-GMO, non-soy, non-MSG); pastured pork chops; bone-in pork chops, 4-pk; pork Boston butt (pastured and forest raised, non-GMO, non-soy), pastured pork short ribs (pastured and forest raised, non-GMO, non-soy) Look for them at CFM on the fourth Saturday of each month!
