Clarkesville couple charged with 341 counts each in animal cruelty case

Charges have been filed  in an ongoing large scale multi species Animal Cruelty seizure in Habersham County which began on April 122017. Teresa Bramblett and Clarence Bramblett of Clarkesville, Georgia have each been charged with 340 counts of cruelty to animals and one count each of holding or possessing game animal without a permit.

The Brambletts, who are married, have arranged to turn themselves into the Habersham County Detention Center. Bond has been set at $10,000 for each defendant.

Habersham County Animal Care & Control executed a search warrant on April 12th after an investigation sparked by a barking complaint. HCACC Officers and assisting agencies impounded over 400 animals including; dogs, cats, goats, sheep, donkeys, pigs, chickens, ducks, doves, chinchillas, a llama, a horse and a squirrel. Over 300 of the animals were canine.

Assisting agencies included; The Humane Society of the Unite States, The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia, Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement Unit, Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society, Northeast Veterinary Hospital, Cornerstone Animal Hospital, Dr. Solveig Evans and Victoria Stillwell.

Approximately 40 canines have been retained by Habersham County Animal Care & Control which will be available for adoption at a later date after receiving necessary medical care and socialization. The majority of the animals are requiring extensive follow up veterinary care. All animals will also be spayed or neutered prior to adoption.

HCACC asks the public to please be patient with inquiries in regards to adoption. When the process of adoption of these animals begins, HCCAC will release additional information as to details of the adoption event.
