There’s a vacant seat on the Clarkesville City Council. Longtime member Casey Ramsey resigned effective today. Ramsey, who served on the city council for nine years, is relocating to Dalton, Georgia.
In his resignation letter he says it was his pleasure to serve the constituents of Clarkesville.
“I am proud to have been a part of multiple accomplishments, such as the financial stability of the city, increased coverage of our public safety departments, replacement of aging fire and police vehicles and equipment, future growth plans, and the rebuilding of the square.” He adds, “I am most proud of the city employees that I have had the honor of working alongside; they are truly the backbone of this city.” (see Ramsey’s full resignation letter below)
Clarkesville City Manager Barbara Kesler says a special election will be held to fill Ramsey’s unexpired term. “The Council will need to pass a Resolution at the March Council Meeting to call for a special election to be held on June 20, 2017,” she explains.
The winner of that election will serve out the remainder of Ramsey’s term which ends on December 31, 2019.
