Clarkesville Council plans strategic planning retreat

The Clarkesville City Council will meet this week for its annual strategic planning retreat. The retreat will give the City Council an opportunity to discuss and review various issues in a relaxed environment. It will foster open communication among the council and ask questions from staff on various topics. The retreat will be facilitated by the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government.

This year’s retreat will focus on the 2025 budget that is currently being assembled. The council will discuss infrastructure updates and needs throughout the city. Recently, the council approved moving forward with extending water lines in the Alec Mountain Road area. During a recent Planning Commission meeting, sewer issues were discussed in the Rocky Branch Road area.

The retreat will also provide the City Council with an opportunity to plan and prioritize current and future issues around the city.

The Clarkesville City Council will meet for the all day retreat Thursday, August 29. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and will conclude at 4:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Clarkesville Community House located at 157 Mary Street in Clarkesville.
