Clarkesville Council Begins Anew in 2016

On Monday, January 4, at 6:30 p.m., the Clarkesville City Council will hold its first meeting since the death of the city’s mayor, Dr. Terry Greene, on December 13, 2015.

Council will hold a moment of silence in honor and memory of Mayor Greene at the start of Monday’s meeting.

The agenda includes the council’s “election of a Mayor Pro Tempore.” Greene was elected mayor in 2005, 2009, and 2013, and his term of office for 2013 was incomplete. According to the meeting agenda, the council  will consider planning and executing a 2016 special election for mayor of the city.

Monday’s meeting will also include administration of an “Oath of Office” for incoming council members Bruce Lewallen and and Casey Ramsey. Also scheduled is the council’s consideration of the re-appointment of the following: City Attorney, Janney Sanders; City Clerk, Glenda Smith; City Judge, Robert A. Sneed; and City Manager, Barbara Kesler.

Additional business is scheduled to be conducted by the council and the meeting is open to the public.
