Three people are in jail following two drug busts in Habersham County. Authorities say the drug arrests were prompted by citizens’ complaints.
Mitchell Posey with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) says 31- year old Lucas Alan Garvey of Cornelia was arrested Thursday during a search at 198 Wood Street in Cornelia. While executing a search warrant, Posey says officers from ARDEO and the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office found crack cocaine, marijuana packaged for sale and several prescription pills. The street value of the illegal narcotics is around $2,000.
Garvey is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of a scheduled 4 controlled substance (Xanax). He was transported to the Habersham County Detention Center.
Two days later, on March 25, authorities responded to complaints of suspected drug activity at 1019 Daniel Road in Demorest. Posey says a search of the residence turned up methamphetamine, several prescriptions pills and a firearm.
42-year old Richard Anthony Massey of Demorest was arrested along with 23-year old Chapella Chloe Cantrell of Clarkesville. Massey is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance (2 counts) and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Cantrell was arrested for an outstanding parole warrant. Both were transported to the Habersham County Detention Center.
