Christian Sworn in as D.A.

It’s official: George Christian is the new Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney. He was sworn into office Tuesday by Governor Nathan Deal in Atlanta. The circuit includes Habersham, Rabun and Stephens Counties.

Christian served as chief assistant district attorney under former D.A. Brian Rickman who left to accept an appointment as judge on the Georgia Court of Appeals in December.  Christian briefly served as interim D.A. and was appointed to fill Rickman’s unexpired term by Gov. Deal on February 8.

District Attorney  Christian earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Georgia and a law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. He previously served as chief assistant district attorney for the Houston Judicial Circuit and assistant U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Georgia.

Christian and his wife, Martha, live in Clayton.
